The new release of Francis Boulard’s “Les Murgiers” Extra Brut is composed entirely of
pinot meunier and hails from the base year of 2012, with thirty percent of the blend made up of reserve wines from the previous two vintages. It was finished with a dosage of five grams per
liter and offers up a pure and vibrant nose of white peach, beautiful meunier floral tones,
patissière, chalky soil tones and just a wisp of smokiness in the upper register. On the palate the
wine is pure, full-bodied and very elegant in profile, with frothy mousse, a lovely core, fine focus
and grip and a long, vibrant and complex finish. This is a beautiful bottle of non-vintage bubbly,
with the structure to age well, but with so much immediate appeal that it is going to be hard to
keep one’s hands off of in the cellar! Lovely juice. 2016-2030+.
