Pungent blood orange, strawberry and rose pastille scents are lifted and sharpened by a chalky mineral quality. Fleshy but dry and precise, offering intense red berry and bitter citrus pith qualities and a hint of tarragon. Shows red wine-like character and Champagne nerve, finishing with resonating florality and a touch of smokiness. This characterful pink Champagne would go with a host of foods, rich or on the light side. -- Josh Raynolds

Vintage 2014 released early as NV, this is a terrific expression of youthful pinot noir saignée with a 10% inclusion of co-planted pinot gris fermented in stainless and concrete eggs (20-25%). Vintage 2014 released early as NV, this is a terrific expression of youthful pinot noir saignée with a 10% inclusion of co-planted pinot gris fermented in stainless and concrete eggs (20-25%). Delivers chalky minerals, poached pear and strawberries on the nose and palate. Smooth, soft and supple palate texture. Delicious. Made to drink young. - Nick Stock

The current release of the Larmandier-Bernier Rosé de Saignée is a lovely wine. The current release of the Larmandier-Bernier Rosé de Saignée is a lovely wine. The color, as is typical with this bottling, is quite dark for a Rosé Champagne, and offers up a deep and beautifully spicy nose of cherries, blood orange, cinnamon, wheat toast, stony minerality and a topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and beautifully balanced, with lovely mid-palate concentration, very elegant mousse, bright acids and excellent focus and grip on the long, complex and perfectly refined finish. Larmandier-Bernier’s Extra Brut bottlings can sometimes be a touch austere out of the blocks, but the new release of their Rosé de Saignée is drinking beautifully from the outset and really is a superb bottle of bubbly. (Drink between 2013-2023)

A deeply hued rosé dry and spicy with a subtle weave of black cherry currant biscuit and grapefruit zest flavors backed by firm integrated acidity and a smoky mineral thread that lingers on the finish.
