In the glass this very unusual rosé champagne looks like a pale-colored pinot noir red, then comes the intensely flinty nose. However, there's also plenty of raspberry fruit. Structured, dry and powerful on the palate with a bright mineral acidity and emphatic mousse that make this super-clean at the finish. 100% pinot noir from Mareuil-sur-Ay that is a blend of 80% 2020 vintage and 20% 2019 vintage. The base wine was matured in oak casks. Disgorged in early 2023 with just 4 g/l of dosage. Drink or hold. - Stuart Pigott

Expressive aromas and flavors of Maraschino cherry, violet, spiced orange and chopped almond ride the fine, silky mousse in this vinous version. Backed by a well-knit spine of acidity, it's fresh and balanced, with a lingering finish. Distinctive. Disgorged spring 2019. Drink now through 2025. – AN

The NV Brut Rosé is a pure Pinot Noir picked in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and vinified in oak as pink wine after a short maceration, 80% is from the 2018 vintage, 20% from 2017, also aged in oak. The deep pink color leads onto fresh raspberry aromas followed by juicy cherry. This is energetic and vibrant, with rounded body, generous fruit, strawberry and cream ripeness and a certain mellow richness. The frothy mousse is playful and soft, only adding to that sense of roundness. Underneath, however, there is poise and depth. Ebullient on the surface, classy deeper down. Dosage is 5gr/L. The garnet-colored NV Brut Premier Cru Rosé is exclusively made from Pinot Noir grown in Mareuil Sur Ay during the vintages of 2010 (80%) and 2009 (20%). The part of 2009 was achieved by saignée and aged in barrels, whereas the larger part got its color and character by a short maceration. The champagne opens with an aromatic yet vinous Pinot-maturity on the nose, displaying ripe and candied cherries, red berries and floral aromas. Full, round and fruit-intense on the palate, this elegant fizz is a good partner with food, but does also well performing as a soloist; though I find it a little bit too sweetly dosed. (The wine I tasted was disgorged with a dosage of 7 grams per liter in the first trimester 2013.) - Stephan Reinhardt
