The October 2019 disgorgement of Varnier-Fannière's NV Brut Grand Cru Cuvée Saint-Denis continues to show very nicely, revealing aromas of ripe citrus fruit, yellow apple, fresh apricot, wheat toast and marzipan, followed by a full-bodied, broad and powerful palate that's elegantly fleshy and nicely concentrated. It's an expressive, textural Champagne that exemplifies the house style. - William Kelley

(93+ points) Cuvée Denis Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut NV is a parcel selection from two rows of old vines in Les Maladries du Midi vineyard. Based on the 2019 vintage with 50% of the blend reserve wines, it reveals poised aromas of poached yellow apple, lemon balm, verbena blossom and honey. Light to medium-bodied with a seamlessly buoyant line of acid girdling crunchy orchard fruit notes, it finishes with a lovely textured weight and mineral freshness. The NV Brut Cuvée Saint Denis is another stellar wine in this range. Fresh citrus, crystallized ginger, white pepper, mint and crushed rocks all race across the palate.
