Wine Spectator - Wine Spectator, March 2008
Beautiful aromas of crushed berry chocolate and licorice with hints of toasty oak follow through to a full-bodied palate with velvety tannins and a rich wonderful finish. This is generous and balanced. Best after 2017... It is a big, masculine, full-bodied, intense Pomerol to cellar for another 4-5 years, and drink over the following two decades. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

The Providence 2005 is very sweet and generous on the nose with dark cherries, blueberry and a touch of fresh prune. It becomes more and more floral in the glass, though never quite achieves the precision of its peers... The Providence 2005 is very sweet and generous on the nose with dark cherries, blueberry and a touch of fresh prune. It becomes more and more floral in the glass, though never quite achieves the precision of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with quite an oaky entry that needs more integration. There is plenty of depth here, moderate complexity and hints of coffee emerging towards the finish. Enjoy over the next decade.

It is ripe and soft, perhaps too soft. The stone fruit, herbs and full bodied character all are well integrated. But for a wine of this potential, more structure is needed.

A tart, wild fruit character emerges as the youthful reduction of this wine subsides. It goes from feral scents to an earthy fatness of fruit and a powerful mineral cut to the tannins. To cellar for a decade or longer.

Fat and plump but with only moderate cut to the sweet flavors of red fruits, truffle and smoke. Offers plenty of sex appeal and a high-pH mouth feel but could use a bit more energy (I would never have picked this blind as a wine from the Moueix stable). Finishes with substantial dusty tannins.
