About as Provencal as they come (which is a trait of the vintage), the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape is comprised of 80% concrete-tank-aged Grenache and the balance Syrah and Mourvedre that was raised in barrel. It sports a vibrant purple color to go with fabulous notes of blackberries, raspberries, crushed flowers, incense and Provencal garrigue. A blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah that's aged all in tank the 2009 Domaine de Cristia Châteauneuf-du-Pape is an outstanding wine that has an upfront round fleshy profile as well as plenty of southern Rhône typicity. Showing loads of concentrated ripe blackberry spice herbs de Provence and subtle tar and chocolate aromas and flavors this medium to full-bodied wine possesses a supple feel good freshness and plenty of length on the finish. It should continue to shine over the coming 8-10 years.
