Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, July 2023

The 2020 vintage in Margaret River was moderate to warm and will be forever remembered for the incredibly compacted harvest period, which started two weeks earlier than the 2019 harvest before it and was all wrapped up by...

Halliday Wine Companion, August 2023

A wine that tells the story of chardonnay's evolution in Margaret River and remains at the top of its game because it's a pure expression of place as much as the producer. It’s refreshing, classy and superfine, the...

jamessuckling.com, November 2023

Tauter than vintages of yore, boasting complex aromas of pear distillate, citrus verbena, nougat, cashew, cedar-tinged oak and succulent white peach. Immaculately constructed, pure and rather wonderful. Founded on a...

The Real Review, January 2023

Pale lemon yellow. White nectarine, sea spray, roast hazelnut, and crushed sage aromatics. Palate fills with an intensity and power that makes you immediately sit up and focus. There's a ripeness of fruit but with the...

Wine Front, March 2023

This is a peach of a wine. One sip and wow, you’re into its wonderful world. It has one foot entirely in the elegant camp, and the other comprehensively in the domain of power. It’s seamless. There are peach, cedarwood...

Leeuwin Estate is a family-owned Australian winery and one of the five founding wineries in the now famous Margaret River district of Western Australia. Formerly a cattle ranch, the property was converted to vineyards by Denis and Tricia Horgan upon the advice of legendary Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi when he visited Australia and saw the estate’s potential as being ideal for the production of premium wines.

The estate enjoyed its first commercial vintage in 1979 and was quickly thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1980 "Art Series" Chardonnay. Leeuwin now exports to 30 markets. The estate releases wines under the Art Series, Prelude Vineyards and Siblings labels.

Celebrating the combination of fine wine, food, art and music, Leeuwin features an award winning restaurant, cellar door and art gallery. The estate is renowned for staging spectacular events and welcoming visitors from around the world.

The “Art Series” represents Leeuwin’s most opulent & age-worthy wines from each vintage. They are identified with paintings commissioned from leading contemporary Australian artists.

Leeuwin Art Series Chardonnay is aromatically complex and packed with flavor but maintains vivid acidity. The wine is fruit forward, typically citrus-driven but also showing pear and nuances of stone fruit. Oak-aging adds depth and gentle accents, such as cinnamon, but no overt woody notes. The wines easily age, and improve, for a good 15 years.

The 2020 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series from Margaret River, Western Australia is a white wine that exudes elegance and power. With a pale lemon yellow color, this Chardonnay immediately captivates the senses. The nose is filled with enticing aromas of white nectarine, sea spray, roast hazelnut, and crushed sage. It is a symphony of scents that invite you to delve deeper into the wine's complexities.

On the palate, the 2020 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series truly shines. It possesses a remarkable intensity and power that demands attention. The fruit ripeness is perfectly balanced by a saline minerality, a touch of struck flint, and layers upon layers of delicate oak spices. Each sip reveals new facets of brilliance, keeping you engaged until the never-ending finish.

Renowned wine critic The Real Review awarded this Chardonnay an impressive score of 97. They described it as a wine that harmonizes line, length, and drive, resulting in a truly exceptional experience. Another esteemed publication, Wine Front, also gave it a score of 97, praising its seamless blend of elegance and power. They noted flavors of peach, cedarwood, white flower, ginger, and custard-like characters, all rolled into one. The length and off-hand confidence of this wine were highlighted as particularly outstanding.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded the 2020 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series an exceptional score of 98. They highlighted the power and density of this vintage, comparing it to the highly regarded 2018 vintage. The wine displays salted pear, white peach, nectarine, red apple skins, preserved citrus, and crushed shell flavors. With staggering length and consistent winemaking techniques, this Chardonnay is truly a super wine.

The 2020 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series is a true testament to the quality and excellence of Margaret River wines. It is a wine that demands attention and promises a memorable experience for any wine enthusiast.
