A fresh and crunchy pinot with lovely cherry, hibiscus and light orange peel character with hints of earth and cedar. Medium body. Fine tannins and a delicious finish. Delicate is the word. Drink now or hold.

Based in the town of Sonoma, Sojourn Cellars is a highly acclaimed winery specializing in the production of artisan Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast, Rodgers Creek, Sangiacomo, and Gaps Crown vineyards, and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III in the Rutherford subregion of the Napa Valley.

Founded by Craig and Ellen Haserot together with winemaker Erich Bradley, Sojourn Cellars reflects a heartfelt commitment to producing carefully handcrafted wines for individuals who appreciate sophistication without pretension. Launched in 2001 with 100 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sojourn remains today a boutique artisan producer, sold on allocation to their mailing list members and a select group of restaurants, retailers, and distribution partners.

Sojourn Cellars’ Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a blend of eight unique lots produced from Sonoma Coast vineyards ranging from the northernmost Annapolis region to Occidental and down south to the Petaluma Gap. Campbell Ranch, Riddle, Gap’s Crown, Sangiacomo, and Wohler vineyards represent key elements used to produce this blend. Pinot noir clones 115, 828, 667, Pommard, and Wadensville 2A add unique elements creating a complex Pinot noir with a myriad of textures and flavors.

The 2021 Sojourn Cellars Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is an exquisite example of the elegant complexity that the Pinot Noir varietal can achieve in the cool microclimates of California's North Coast. Hailing from the renowned Sonoma Coast sub-appellation, this wine is crafted by the skilled team at Sojourn Cellars, a producer acclaimed for their ability to express the unique terroir of their vineyards.

This vivid red wine presents a delightful mélange of aromas and flavors that are both refreshing and engaging. As noted by esteemed wine critic James Suckling, the wine's profile is marked by the fresh crunch of cherry, complemented by the floral allure of hibiscus and a hint of zesty orange peel. There's an undercurrent of earthy cedar notes, adding depth and intrigue to the overall palate. The wine's medium body is supported by finely woven tannins, culminating in a delightful finish that echoes its delicate harmony.

The Wine Enthusiast commends this wine for its balance, tang, and light tannic structure, making it a versatile companion to a variety of food pairings. Its enticing notes of red cherry and dried cranberry are deliciously appetizing, with the influence of French oak barrels adding a subtle nuance.

The Wine Spectator highlights the wine's juicy character, featuring robust flavors of mulled raspberry and blood orange, underscored by a bright mineral edge and a flourish of red tea and savory notes. The long, lingering finish reveals a latent tension that suggests this wine will continue to evolve beautifully through 2030.

With an average score of 93 from these respected publications, the 2021 Sojourn Cellars Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is certainly a wine to savor and cherish, whether enjoyed in the present moment or allowed to mature in the cellar for future indulgence.
