The outstanding 2012 Chardonnay Rued Vineyard comes from an east-facing hillside parcel not far from the little hippie town of Graton. It was planted in 1969, so these are relatively old vines, and the Rued clone tends to produce tropical and floral notes, as evidenced by this cuvée of Chardonnay. It is very flowery, with notes of pineapple, mango and honeysuckle followed by a medium to full-bodied, luscious mouthfeel and a long finish with just enough acidity to provide delineation and freshness. Drink it over the net 4-5 years. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
