Shipping information

Important Notes About Shipping

  • We ship via common carriers such as FedEx and UPS, and local overnight carriers
  • An adult, 21 year old signature is always required to receive your delivery. An adult must be present to accept the delivery and an adult signature is required for the delivery of alcoholic beverages. This requirement cannot be waived and packages will not be left at the door.
  • Same day shipment is available to zip codes in most urban areas in Texas and the San Francisco Bay Area in California Monday through Friday for orders placed before 1pm PT. Orders placed on weekends or after 1pm PT will ship next business day.
  • When taking wine out of storage, please allow 3 business days notice for us to prepare your wines from storage to ship or pick up.

Ground (standard delivery), 2 Day, 3 Day and Overnight Shipping

We ship via common carrier FedEx and UPS using a variety of shipping methods. Orders shipping ground, 2-day, 3-day or overnight service typically ship the same day if it is a business day and the order was placed prior to 3pm PST. During the summer or hotter periods, we do not ship ground (except where ground is guaranteed next day) or 3 day packages late in the week to avoid having your wine sit in a warehouse over the weekend. If you need special shipping arrangements, please call us.

California Overnight Delivery

We offer next day service by end of day and priority overnight delivery guaranteed by 10:30 a.m. using the regional service Golden State Overnight (GSO).

International Shipping

We routinely ship internationally to most countries including Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and others. We do not ship to Canada. US Shipping

Wine shipping rules in the United States are controlled by the state you live in. Please call us at (888-859-4637) if you have any questions about shipping.

In addition to home and business addresses, wine can also be shipped to third party storage facilities. Here are a few examples of storage facilities we can ship to. Please email or call us for options in other states. Please call us at (888) 85 - WINES for more information.

Free Summer Wine Storage

During the summer, we will store wine purchased from us at no cost in our temperature controlled facility. During the checkout process you will be asked if you would like us to hold onto your wines during the summer. We will contact you in the fall to ship your wines. It's that simple!

Please note: Our shipping insurance does not cover heat damage. Items that are placed in summer storage will not be available or accessible until shipping occurs in the fall at which time we will be coordinating shipments according to your region and acceptable weather conditions. To help make shipping costs more efficient, any orders that are designated for summer storage and are made within 21 days will be combined and consolidated into 12 pack shippers.

Please note 3 business days notice is required for us to prepare your wines from storage to ship or pick up.

Weather or Extreme Temperature

We understand that temperature sensitivity is a part shipping wine. Our insulated wine shipping boxes allow for ice inserts to keep your wine cool during shipment.

Shipping Insurance

We strongly recommend opting for insurance to protect your purchase. Shipping insurance is a service which may reimburse (or replace items when available) sender's whose wine parcels are lost, stolen, and/or damaged in transit. Insurance does not cover damage as a result of extreme heat or cold. If you are concerned about extreme weather affecting your shipment, please consider upgrading your delivery service. 

Insurance is based on the total value of items ordered, at time/date of order. You will be charged 1% of the total item value on the order, excluding taxes, handling and shipping fees.

Ask your Wine Specialist about shipping insurance or select insurance as an option in your shopping cart.

Shipping Terms and Conditions

JJ Buckley will ship your purchase according to the shipping method you choose. We ship via common carrier and offer ground, 3 day, 2 day and overnight service. Orders generally leave next business day unless an item is sold on a pre-arrival or future or backordered bases.

JJ Buckley Fine Wines reserves the right to hold shipment of your wine during extreme weather conditions.

JJ Buckley Fine Wines cannot be responsible for damage to wine (including leakage or damaged corks) shipped to you against our express protestations in regards to weather conditions. Please be aware of the scheduled delivery information, as the date, and location of your delivery cannot be changed once it leaves our warehouse. It is your responsibility to be present when your shipment arrives.

If the weather is very hot or cold in your area, and you would like us to postpone our shipping, please advise us. Use the weather in your area as a guide, when making your choice for best shipping method. We do not advise shipping via ground 2-day or longer without Cold Pack Shippers during temperatures over 80°F (26°C) or under 32°F (0°C). We do not advise shipping during temperatures over 90°F (32°C). If you need your order by a specific date, please let us know and we will work with you to try to get the wine to you in time for your needs.

JJ Buckley Fine Wines cannot be responsible for wine damaged by a shipper or inappropriate storage/handling on the part of the shipper. We reserve the right to refuse sales if we deem it to be inappropriate and/or unsafe.

We cannot ship to PO, APO, or FPO box offices. Orders to Alaska or Hawaii must only be shipped 2nd Day Air. Incorrect, insufficient or change of address will incur a $10.00 surcharge. We reserve the right to charge return shipping for refused or undelivered packages. Please allow up to 2 business days for your order to be processed.

International Orders Terms and Conditions

Shipping for international orders will be quoted by email. All sales made to orders outside the United States are final upon shipment. Absolutely NO RETURNS will be accepted and NO REFUNDS will be provided once the order leaves our warehouse. Product will leave our warehouse in the condition as described prior to the sale - Customer takes all responsibility for damage or loss of wine during shipment.
