Louis Jadot surprises us so often with their village and cru Burgundy offerings that we should probably start adjusting our expectations for what this regional titan is capable of. One of Burgundy’s largest producers, their entry level offerings are pretty ubiquitous, but their extraordinary array of vineyard holdings, world-class winemaking, and even in-house cooperage all contribute to a very high level of quality for the price.

Featuring about 25% 1er cru fruit, this 2019 from Jadot is a “smart village-level Chassagne-Montrachet” (Wine Enthusiast), and we've got the best price around. With the low yields and high quality of the 2019s, it’s a real steal. That’s particularly true this year, as for the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley 2019 was “the most successful I've ever tasted at this address.”

Maison Jadot is one of Burgundy’s most recognizable names, and while wine experts and collectors might look down their nose, the fact is many of their releases “stand shoulder to shoulder with more bijou domaines” and “and occasionally surpass them” (Wine Advocate). In truth, Jadot’s process is actually is very appealing to wine geeks, as they tend to approach all their different wines with similar techniques, allowing distinctions between vineyards and villages to shine. This “very good Chassagne” (Burghound) shows just the right balance of bright fruit with a touch of oak, and will drink beautifully for the next handful of years. Cheers!

93 points & Editors’ Choice, Wine Enthusiast: "Toasted almond and toffee notes mingle into ripe lemon and pear in this silky, cream-textured white. Judiciously oaked and luscious yet bright-eyed in fruit character, it's a smart village-level Chassagne-Montrachet with a steely, lingering finish. Ready now, the wine should drink well through 2029."
