The rosés at Dom Perignon mature more slowly than the whites - elsewhere it is often the other way round. Therefore, the P3 Rosé is some way off release, and we have had to make do with the P2. What suffering we have endured in the name of art. We talk about red Burgundy. Great red Burgundy that is, although in this instance the autumnal notes more closely resemble forest whispers than more earthy or farmyard recollections. If Geoffroy is making memories, as he seems to be, and they are taking on Proustian significance, then they are mainly happy and bright memories, ethereal and inspiring. Crystalline fruit, soft spice and hints of kerosene join balmy red fruit, followed by a gentle lift on the finish. Great Champagne always looks upwards. (Drink between 2019-2030)

Still wonderfully lively. Strawberry colour and fruit. Still big and bold but with quite enough acidity to keep it refreshing. Wonderfully persistent and masses and masses of explosive fruit. Almost too big to drink without food. 19/20

The 2000 Dom Perignon Rose is a flashy, ripe Champagne that screams Pinot to a degree I have never encountered in another vintage of this wine. A dark, intense color leads to a Chambolle-like nose followed by endless red berries, flowers and spices, all backed up with plenty of muscle, richness and density. The wine continues to blossom on the palate, with utterly beguiling detail, clarity and polish, all qualities that resonate on the rich, expansive finish. The 2000 Dom Perignon Rose is 45% Chardonnay and 55% Pinot Noir, of which 25% is still Pinot. Geoffroy says his goal was to make a statement with the 2000 Dom Perignon Rose; he has done that?and so much more. In fact, the 2000 seems to signal a stylistic shift towards a more important, serious style of rose. This superb wine is not to be missed, but readers should note this is no easygoing rose, rather it is a Champagne that demands serious attention. The 2000 will test the limits of what readers expect from a Dom Perignon Rose, but the wine is simply marvelous. I loved it. This bottle was disgorged in 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025.

This shows a beautiful, mature, burnished copper color and a plum, toast, earth and smoke bouquet with that 'funky-in-a-great-way' complex Pinot edge. It's creamy and full on the palate, with a lovely mousse and near perfect acidity, and dried cherry, berry and plum flavors bearing sweet hay and earthy notes. Finishes with incredible length and intensity, dusty rose and kirsch notes. Great juice, delicious now and for a long time.

Fascinating. Mature notes of mushroom corrupt cherry and forest undergrowth evoke an aged red Burgundy. Firm and medium-bodied yet softening and with little effervescence it fades by the finish but the bouquet alone is worth the price of admission. Drink now. –BS
