At our tasting at the domaine in March, the 1995 Clos de la Bussière showed absolutely brilliantly. This is not a surprise, as Christophe realized remarkable success in this vintage, with his lineup of wines perhaps the very finest to be found in the Côte d’Or in this year. The 1995 Clos de la Bussière offers up a stunning nose of mulberries, mustard seed, coffee, gamebirds, a superb base of soil, and developing notes of sous bois. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a beautiful core of sweet, black fruit, ripe tannins, sound framing acids, excellent focus and a long, complex and soil-driven finish of outstanding balance and grip. This is an absolutely classic vintage for the Clos de la Bussière, and given how beautifully this is drinking, it augurs very well indeed for the higher level appellations chez Roumier. A great showing.
