I bought this wine for myself because I thought it was a sleeper of the vintage, and I couldn’t be happier. My score in two tastings was identical to what it was seven years ago. Chocolatey espresso notes jump from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied, with a silky texture, loads of concentration and density, this is a beautiful wine that is both hedonistically and intellectually pleasing. The wine seems to have reached full maturity, where it should stay for another 10-15 years.- RP

Deep and dark at the core, pushing out to a crimson, brick rim. The nose is initially quite shy but with a bit of air this opens incredibly. There is a supremely complex array of red and black fruits, wet asphalt, black truffle, saddle leather, cedar and forest floor. I love the nose and can’t stop smelling the alluring aromas present. On the palate, this is silky and vibrant with a well-integrated tannic profile and core of acidity which keep this gem fresh and youthful. There is more red fruit present on the palate: red cherry, raspberry, strawberry and plum. This coats the palate but is not heavy or cloying, this finish is long and persistent. This is in a great spot today and should age effortlessly for another 10-15 years.
