Aged for 10 years before disgorging and a further time before release, this is Gosset's top wine from a great vintage year. Extra Brut means it is dry, although the age of this wine has softened the intense acidity and turned it into an elegant, mature wine of great complexity as well as immediate attraction. It will age further at least until 2022, although it is totally drinkable now.

The 2002 Gosset “Cuvée Celebris” is a blend of fifty-two percent chardonnay and forty-eight percent pinot noir and was finished off with a dosage of five grams per liter. The bouquet is deep, pure and a lovely expression of this beautiful vintage, offering up scents of pear, white peach, patissière, fresh almonds, a very complex base of soil, a touch of sweet butter and a discreet topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and stunningly poised, with a fine core, lovely transparency, elegant mousse and outstanding length and grip on the focused, complex and seamless finish. At age fourteen, this wine is drinking brilliantly well, but will clearly cruise along in the cellar for a couple of decades, at the least! A simply stunning bottle. (Drink between 2016-2035)

The 2002 Celebris Vintage Extra Brut displays a noble, clear, fresh and subtle bouquet with white fruit and brioche flavors intertwined with mineral aromas. Silky textured and highly elegant, this full-bodied yet delicate blend of 48% Pinot Noir and 52% Chardonnay is clear and straight on the palate, revealing a ripe and intense, yet refined fruit. It has a persistent and complex, firmly structured, stimulatingly pure and salty finish. Great finesse and ethereal lightness here, with great purity and mineral tension. It also has the intensity of perfect fruit in the long and persistent finish. A great Champagne for the next ten and probably many more years. - Stephan Reinhardt

An elegant, complex and wonderfully expressive nose features plenty of yeast character on the citrusy, apple, pear, brioche and cool floral scents. There is equally good complexity to the detailed, refined and intense flavors that seem to lilt across the palate thanks to the ultra-fine bead of the supporting mousse, all wrapped in a delicious and refreshing finale that delivers excellent length. I was suitably impressed by this effort that offers the choice of enjoying its considerable pleasures now or holding it for another 3 to 5 years first, which is what I would suggest.

A deep, rich and toasty nose that has a wealth of cashewy, nutty aromas and dried lemon pith, nougat and bright dried cherry fruits too. The palate's bold, assertive and full of flavor with really expansive orchard fruits. It's pared back to reveal a dry, essence-like finish with length and poise aplenty. Drink now.

Graceful and structured by firm, focusing acidity, this delivers flavors of apricot tart, white raspberry, raw almond and lemon preserves, with a hint of crystallized honey on the vibrant, ethereal mousse. Offers a persistent, lightly smoky finish. Drink now through 2027. 2,100 cases made. –AN
