Perhaps the best cuvee he has ever made of Ermitage Chante Alouette is the 2004 a fabulous vintage for the whites of the northern Rhone. This wine competes attractively with the single vineyard whites. The wine has wonderful notes of honeysuckle licorice quince and white currants in an almost thick juicy style yet buttressed by considerable acidity. It is a gorgeous wine with terrific intensity and richness.

Lovely mouthfeel with creamy peach almond cream macadamia nut and acacia blossom notes that glide effortlessly through the finish. Nice minerally encore. Drink now through 2012. 3200 cases made. -JM

Aromas of honey lemon oil white peach and naval orange on the nose with a slight touch of clove as well. It starts off fresh on the palate abounding with flavors of honeysuckle and lemon curd. The wine expands in the mid-palate to gain a nice fatty richness but it still remains lively and fresh throughout giving it great complexity in the mouth. The soft finish is long and alluring.
