The 2005 Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon is savory and earthy on the nose. The sage and cassis is beneath it all, showing both a purity of fruit and a layer of earthy complexity that dovetail nicely in the mouth. Svelte, graceful, polished and velvety now, it's a beautiful wine. It has many more years to go. - Erin Larkin

86% cabernet sauvignon 14% malbec. On the nose enticing and complex aromas develop offering graphite and stone mixed with notes of beef marinade fresh earth and sandalwood bringing to mind Bordeaux. Reinforcing that impression is the elegantly profiled palate displaying flavors of black cherry and currants enlivened by refreshing acidity and supported by moderate tannins providing a lively finish that fades gently. This medium weight wine is immediately approachable and though delicious now it will be even better in 6-8 years. A worthy companion to Leeuwin's famous Art Series Chardonnay this is a classic example of Margaret River cabernet.
