Medium garnet color with hints of brick around the edges. Dried cherry and forest floor emerge on the nose accented by a woodsy element and hints of clove and allspice. On the palate earthy dried cherry and European licorice come into play along with notes of worked leather leading to a spicy finish. This wine will showcase a roasted chicken brilliantly or pair wonderfully with grilled salmon topped with wild mushrooms.

Here there is slightly better ripeness as well as more aromatic depth on the fruity yet pretty red berry fruit aromas that include a touch of forest floor that precede round and relatively generous barely middle weight flavors that retain a reasonable sense of precision on the dusty and acceptably long finish. This is very Beaune in that the flavors are generous and while this is not especially elegant there is an attractive purity of expression. Despite these positive aspects like many of the wines in the range this lacks just the final hair of ripeness which detracts from the overall sense of quality.
