Neal Martin's Wine Journal, September 2010

Tasted blind at Southwold ’06 Bordeaux tasting. This is an impressive showing for Gruaud-Larose under blind conditions. It has a reserved, cedar, leafy nose with good definition and poise with good lift – very Pauillac in...

Wine Enthusiast, March 2009

Initially dominated by tannins this wine is now evolving to show a softer easier side. With sweet fruit and a delicious refreshing juicy black currant acidity the tannins are now the base of an approachable wine offering...

Very classic in nature. Red with slight bricking at the rim. The nose offers sweet red and black fruit with just a kiss of fresh herbs and spices. There are underlying notes of espresso and mixed earth that give it depth...

Wine Spectator, March 2009

Shows plum and raspberry aromas with hints of flowers. Full-bodied with super well-integrated tannins and pretty fruit on the middle palate. All there in balance and finesse. Best after 2013. 20000 cases made. â_"JS

Vibrant magenta color. Toffee and roast coffee aromas over rich plum. Decent balance and mouthfeel. Toast over spicy cherry. Somewhat short.

This is a classic style from the Saint Julien appellation which was ranked a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The vines are planted on 82 hectares of Garonne gravel. Grapes are handpicked and matured for 16-18 months in French, fine grain, oak barrels. Annual production of the grand vin averages around 150,000 bottles.
