Medium gold in color, the 2007 Raymond-Lafon leaps from the glass with notes of persimmon butter, quince paste, lemon marmalade, and lime leaves, leading to suggestions of fresh straw and unsmoked cigars. The palate is rich and spicy, with nutty nuances intermingling with the citrus layers, finishing with epic length.

Tasted single blind against its peers. It never ceases to amaze me just how well Raymond-Lafon performs year after year. The 2007 has an elegant bouquet with touches of tangerine and dried honey the underlying minerality beginning to show through with further aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous entry good acidity with a very taut finish that will need time to express itself. This remains one of the best value wines of the vintage. Pale 24k golden color. A bit oaky on the nose with some nice vanilla and baking spices. This stuff is buzzing with botrytis but has nice acid to keep everything in balance. Quite a rock-star here. I suspect it will need at least a few years in bottle before one should start consuming it.

Tropical fruit, honeysuckle, orange rind, vanilla, lemon and honey scents are discovered with little effort. Medium/full bodied with the right combination of sweet and acidity, but lacking the richness and depth of flavor found in the better wines from this vintage. The 2007 Raymond-Lafon was tasted from two bottles. The second is slightly better with dried honey, a touch of petrol, saffron and yellow flowers on the nose with a hint of orange zest emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, smooth in texture with orange rind, marmalade and touches of allspice. Moderate length. This is probably at its peak.
