Just beginning to mature, this balanced, ripe wine is complex, with bright acidity, toast and pear and green-plum fruits. It is rich, with a tight mouse that shows intensity as well as a stylish character. This is a fine wine just coming into its own but well worth aging further until 2020.

Sleek, with a smoky underpinning and a lively, detailed bead, this firm version offers flavors of black currant, toast, lemon curd and honey. Lingering finish. Drink now through 2030. — A.N.

Tasted from magnum, the 2008 Brut Grand Vintage is broad and ample on the palate, with terrific volume that emerges with time in the glass. Lemon peel, pastry and white flowers give the 2008 brightness, but what I like... Tasted from magnum, the 2008 Brut Grand Vintage is broad and ample on the palate, with terrific volume that emerges with time in the glass. Lemon peel, pastry and white flowers give the 2008 brightness, but what I like most here is a very distinctive sense of verticality that gives the wine the spine to balance its more overt leanings. -- Antonio Galloni

On the nose there is a beautiful, almost ocean-like salinity along with notes of toasted baguette, meyer lemon and wet rock. This comes across as very precise with vibrant minerality and balanced acidity. Remarkably, it reminds me very much of the 2006 Dom Perignon! This is a great value from Moet. Drink now and over the next decade.

Moet Chandon

Since 1743 when it was founded, Moet & Chandon has been passing down unequaled winemaking savoir-faire and an innovative and pioneering spirit from generation to generation. Founder Claude Moet was the first to embody these values when he made his Champagne the most sought-after in Europe. With his grandson, Jean Remy Moët, a pioneering and visionary mind, Moet & Chandon became a major international champagne brand. This saga quickly transformed the family House into a worldwide symbol of success.

The 1,190 hectares of rich limestone soil, 50% of which is classed as Grand Cru and 25% Premier Cru, make up the largest vineyard area in Champagne. Underground, the Moet & Chandon cellars are the most extensive in the region. Extending more than 28 kilometers, they form a subterranean labyrinth where the wine metamorphoses under optimum conditions of humidity and temperature.

Moet & Chandon is part of the luxury brands group LVMH, whose other prestigious wine holdings include Chateau d’Yquem, Cheval Blanc, Cloudy Bay, Krug, and Newton Vineyard, to name a few.
