Attractive red berries, nectarines and biscuity notes with a hint of spice, too, and a sweet-smelling freshness to it. The palate delivers a very attractive and concentrated array of yellow stone fruit flavors. Smooth and...

View From The Cellar, May 2017

The 2008 Pol Roger Brut Millésime is a beautiful wine in the making, with the depth and structure to carry it far into the future, but also a wine that is strongly deserving of at least another five years in the cellar to...

(18/20) Lots here. All fired up on all cylinders with fireworks on the palate. Not the driest, but very substantial with minerals and stones dominating. Great zest and length.

Pol Roger is one of the oldest and most-distinguished luxury Champagne firms. Based in the heart of Epernay, it was established in 1849 and remains one of the few family-owned, grande-marquee Champagne houses. Five generations have remained loyal to the firm’s essential values of excellence and independence, ensuring that each wine is treated as an impeccable ambassador to their 160 years of history.

Pol Roger has carved out one of the most flattering reputations in the select circle of the leading Champagne brands. A personal favorite of Sir Winston Churchill (who has the firm’s top cuvee named after him), Pol Roger champagne has also been the British Royal Family’s choice over the years.

The house grows more than half its grapes on 89 estate hectares and sources the rest from select growers. Their cellars extend below the Avenue de Champagne for over seven kilometers on two levels. The deeper cellar maintains a lower temperature for the wine to develop finer bubbles.

The Pol Roger portfolio includes a vintage brut, a non-vintage brut, a brut nature, a demi sec, a vintage rose, a blanc de blancs and the Sir Winston Churchill prestige cuvee.

The Brut Vintage from Champagne Pol Roger is made from their traditional house vintage blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, coming from 20 Grands and Premiers cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and the Cote des Blancs. Produced only in limited quantities, the Brut Vintage is aged for 8 years in the cellars before being disgorged and released onto the market.
