Similar in style to the 2008 Bon Pasteur the dark ruby/plum-colored 2008 Rouget is unquestionably a sleeper of the vintage. Notes of mulberries black currants and sandy loamy soil as well as a lush seductive medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and good purity as well as depth suggest it can be drunk now and over the next decade or more.

Deep opaque ruby/purple. Though a touch muted upon opening wine really blossoms with a few hours of air leading off with aromas of fresh blackberry black cherry chocolate spice earth and a hint of florals. Full bodied round and softly textured on the palate dark fruit earth and mineral flavors carry equal weight. While the ripe tannins still make their presence known at this point this is nicely balanced and this terrific wine will continue to mellow and can be enjoyed over the next 10+ years. 2008 was stellar on the Right Bank (Pomerol in particular) and this value offering is a clear example of that.
