Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, May 2011

A wine of the vintage candidate in 2008 Troplong Mondot's offering was produced from yields of 41 hectoliters per hectare and achieved 14.5% natural alcohol. A classic blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and...

jebdunnuck.com, February 2019

The 2008 Troplong Mondot (from a bottle purchased locally) checks in as a classic blend of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in plenty of new oak. This saturated ruby-colored effort...

jamessuckling.com, December 2010

The wine shows plenty of tobacco and vanilla character with chocolate and berries. Full body, with super fine tannins. It’s so long and refined. It’s a divergence from the big, powerful style of the past. This is a beauty...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, September 2018

With some of its youthful oak still needing to better integrate, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated, lush, round and mouthfilling. On the palate, the round textured, hedonistic wine delivers layers of licorice, smoke...

Neal Martin's Wine Journal, May 2012

Tasted ex-chateau and single blind in Southwold. I have criticized recent vintages over the alcohol levels, but I have no agenda against what is after all, one of the first properties I ever visited. And the 2008 is...

Decanter,

Rich and intense with chocolate, liquorice and dark fruit notes. Sweet but poised on the palate. Modern extraction but with restraint. Firm, long finish.

Wine Enthusiast, April 2011

Heavy new wood influence gives a creamy, toasty palate, the fruit lying under this smooth surface. It is juicy, packed with firm tannins. It will take several years for the wine to properly integrate.

Wine Spectator, May 2011

Still a touch firm as the cocoa and roasted tobacco notes frame the core of plum fig and blackberry fruit. The smoky finish has a nice charcoal edge. This is well-defined and should unwind with modest cellaring. Powerful...

Chateau Troplong-Mondot is grown on extensive vineyards rich in limestone and clay soils. Powerful and well-structured with pronounced complex tannins, its deep aromas of truffles and blackberries develop over time.

The grapes are hand-harvested, totally destemmed, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, moving to oak barrels for secondary malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured in oak barrels (75% new oak and 25% one-year old) for 12 to 24 months depending on the vintage. The average production of the grand vin is between 60,000 to 90,000 bottles.
