, January 2012

83% cabernet sauvignon 17% merlot. A prime example of why the wines of St. Julien may be the finest of all appellations in 2009. Silky and luscious this is a wine that is virtually ready to drink right now. Blackberry...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2019

Medium to deep garnet in color, the 2009 Saint-Pierre displays maturing notes of crème de cassis, blackberry pie and prunes with hints of cardamom, fennel and star anise. Full-bodied, concentrated and jam-packed with...

janeanson.com, September 2024

Even in such a ripe vintage as 2009, you'll find appellation typicity, and this is a perfectly-drawn St Julien. Plum and blackberry fruits, cocoa bean, espresso, crayon, incense and crushed mint leaf, balanced and juicy...

jamessuckling.com, March 2012

Beautiful aromas of mole, raspberries and flowers, follow through to a full body, with firm tannins and a juicy finish. Minerals and flowers. Already delicious and attractive. Best after 2019.

TheWineCellarInsider.com, February 2012

Flashy, fleshy, rich, round and concentrated, this spicy, licorice, cassis, chocolate, coffee and blackberry jam filled, wine, made from a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot is a pleasure to taste.

Decanter,

Densely concentrated earthy, leathery, balsamic nose with black fruits dominating. Rich, suave, concentrated palate with a welcome lightness of touch and no excessive extraction despite the firm tannins.

Wine Enthusiast, February 2012

Very densely structured, showing the ripe fruit of St-Julien while also powering it with smoky tannins and wood. The acidity is a layer under the sweet fruit and final firm character.

Wine Spectator, February 2012

Dark and winey with lots of graphite and espresso-tinged grip driving the dark plum braised fig and steeped black currant fruit flavors. Features lots of tar and briar on the finish. Muscular but mouthwatering. Should...

Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages, March 2013

(17.5/20) Healthy bright crimson. Scented and meaty. Fills all the holes in the palate. Very complete. Slight shades of right bank but lovely and complete. Long and rather sumptuous. Flattering and open. Fresh on the finish.

The grapes for Saint-Pierre’s red wine are picked by hand and vinified in the traditional way in heat-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine then spends 14 to 16 months being aged in casks, half of which are replaced every year. The wine is typically a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
