97+ Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is sporting quite a lot of cedar to begin, giving way to a crazy-intense perfume of crème de cassis, blueberry pie and Black Forest cake plus hints of dried mint, mocha, sandalwood and powdered cinnamon. This is a concentrated, full-bodied, pedal-to-the-metal palate with the layers of black fruits supported by rock-solid, firm tannins, finishing long with a lot of grip and texture. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Big rich and concentrated with a gutsy yet soothing core of tannic currant blackberry black licorice fresh earth cedar and graphite. Very young and tightly wound this is not quite ready to drink and should only get better with time. Best from 2014 through 2024. -J.L.
