Since the 17th Century, the grand vin of Chateau Margaux has been recognized as one of the greatest wines in the entire world. It owes its unique qualities to the genius of its terroir as well as to the passionate work of a succession of generations. It’s a remarkable wine that comes from a combination of characteristics that are only rarely found: finesse, elegance, complexity, density, intensity, length and freshness. Although its tannic concentration may be exceptional, it’s rare to detect astringency.

The great vintages are distinguished by their formidable ability to move us, while the lesser vintages give pleasure to wine enthusiasts. Chateau Margaux has an extraordinary ability to evolve with age, developing finesse, aromatic aromatic complexity, and a remarkable presence on the palate.

The 2010 Château Margaux is a Bordeaux Blend from the Margaux sub-region of Bordeaux, France. Produced by Château Margaux, this red wine is notable for its deep garnet color and complex aromatic profile. The blend consists predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon (90%), complemented by Merlot (7%), and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (1.5% each).

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded it 98+ points, describing it as having "notions of minted blackcurrants, new leather, and Black Forest cake with nuances of sautéed herbs, tar, underbrush, and wild fungi plus a waft of cedar." The wine is full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins and a rock-solid structure, finishing long and earthy.

Alex Lallos from JJ Buckley also gave it a score of 98, extolling the "super perfumed aromas of crushed violet, black cherry, blackberry liquor, and crushed rock." He noted that the palate exhibits blackberry, cassis, chocolate, and exotic Asian spice, describing the wine as "a pure expression and an absolutely stunning wine!"

Neal Martin's Wine Journal rated it 96+, highlighting the sumptuous red and black fruit, including dark cherries and juniper berries. He found the wine to be "medium-bodied with ravishing black fruit laced with blueberry and cassis," noting its superb acidity and tension.

James Suckling gave the wine a perfect score of 100, calling it "phenomenal" and "spellbinding," with aromas of pink roses, currants, berries, and citrus. He praised its refined tannins and beautiful texture, recommending it be tried in 2020 or beyond.

Wine Spectator also awarded it 98 points, describing the wine as "liquid velvet" with "stunning length and a caressing mouthfeel." The review noted layers of creamed plum, blackberry coulis, and steeped black currant fruit seamlessly intertwined with black tea and mulled blood orange.

Other reviews from Vinous, Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, and other notable publications consistently rated the wine between 96 and 100 points, often highlighting its structured tannins, balance, and impressive aging potential. Jane Anson from janeanson.com remarked on its "plush and velvety" tannins and "dense yet light on its feet" character.

Overall, the 2010 Château Margaux is celebrated for its complexity, elegance, and remarkable aging potential, making it a standout vintage from one of Bordeaux's most prestigious producers.
