The Corton from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is produced from vines leased from the Domaine Prince Florent de Merode, and is blended from Clos du Roi (0.57 ha), Les Renardes (0.51 ha), and Les Bressandes (1.19 ha). A recent tasting of this, the second vintage produced, shows a lovely perfumed cherry and redcurrant fruit trimmed with violets, liquorice, earth, and mineral. The texture is silky, exceptionally supple, and very expressive. It is a model of finesse and delicacy with a classical structure and an elegant, resonant finish.

(90 - 92 points) The 2010 Corton comes across as a bit light in this vintage. Attractive floral, spiced notes emerge from the glass in this perfumed, delicate wine. The Corton is pretty, but it is a clear notch or two below the rest of the wines in the lineup and is equally distant from the level of the thrilling 2009. The Corton is made in two vinifications, an old-vine cuvee and a young-vine cuvee. This blend was assembled about a week before I tasted it. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030.

The 2010 Corton Grand Cru was the second release from DRC after taking over the Prince Florent de Merode holdings en fermage. This bottles showed very well. It is extremely perfumed, almost heady on the nose with beautifully defined blue fruit laced with violet. There is something sensual about the aromatics. The palate is lush on the entry that belies the structure underneath. It is just as crisp as it showed just after bottling, here with an added dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. Delicious.
