(96+ points) The 2010 Ducru-Beaucaillou, picked 29 September to 14 October, was matured in 100% new oak for 18 months. This is more backward, sultry compared to the 2009, but there is a payload of black fruit laced with...

Ducru-Beaucaillou is a fine, elegant, and delicious wine with a long finish - in short, an archetypal Saint-Julien. The grapes are hand-picked, and the sorting process takes place on mobile tables in the vineyard to keep the healthy grapes separate from substandard ones. Fermentation is by traditional techniques and only the best fruit is used to produce the wine.

The 2010 Ducru Beaucaillou is a Bordeaux Blend red wine from the St Julien sub-region in Bordeaux, France. Produced by Ducru Beaucaillou, this vintage is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. It has been aged for 18 months in 95% new French oak barrels. The wine features a substantial alcohol content of 14.0%.

James Suckling awarded this wine a perfect score of 100, describing it as having "perfect aromas of Cabernet Sauvignon with currant bush, blackberries and minerals." He noted its full body and perfectly integrated tannins, likening the texture to "the finest cashmere." Suckling emphasized that it is "strong but noble with perfect form and beauty" and suggested it would be better from 2020.

Neal Martin's Wine Journal also rated the wine highly, giving it a score of 97. Martin described the bouquet as "very classic," with "intense blackberry, briary, and tobacco aromas." He praised its medium body, crisp acidity, and "lovely focus and class," calling it a "beautifully crafted Saint Julien with style and panache."

Alex Shaw from JJ Buckley echoed these sentiments with another 97-point score. Shaw highlighted the wine's "lush, complex, and incredibly well-structured" nature, with "bright acidity" and "amazing, lush, and well-integrated" tannins. Shaw noted that the wine offers "tremendous length and grip" and recommended it be consumed between 2020 and 2040.

Wine Spectator’s review awarded the wine 97 points, describing it as "not shy at all" with a "flamboyant, aromatic profile" and "thickly layered" flavors of blackberry paste, steeped fig, and pastis-soaked plum. The structure was termed "massive but incredibly polished," with a "terrific purity" through the finish.

Decanter provided a score of 98, noting that although the 2010 vintage is "less profound and powerful" than the 2009, it has a "more lively and fresher bouquet." The review mentioned cedar, dark berries, tar, cherry, and spicy aromas, with a full-bodied and elegantly proportioned palate.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rated it 99 points, highlighting its "very deep garnet" color and "expressive notes of blackcurrant cordial, chargrilled meats, woodsmoke, and crushed rocks." The review praised its "full-bodied, concentrated" nature, supported by "firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness."

Overall, the 2010 Ducru Beaucaillou is highly regarded for its complexity, structure, and aging potential. Professional reviewers consistently highlight its rich aromas, robust body, and well-integrated tannins, making it a standout choice for Bordeaux enthusiasts.
