Deep dark ruby colored this rich ripe round textured wine offers a big fresh juicy mouthful of licorice fleshy berries spice and chocolate. This wine ends with a long ripe plum. blackberry and fennel finish which offers real character. This is the best wine I've tasted from Grand Mayne.

A blend of 80% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon the first time in six years that Cabernet Sauvignon has been included in the Grand Vin. I have been worried that Grand Mayne was getting a little too "showy" on the nose in recent vintages but this 2010 is pleasantly refined and focused with dark berried fruit a touch of gingerbread and spice box. The palate is full-bodied and dense with grippy tannins blackberry boysenberry and a touch of cedar quite masculine and assertive towards the finish. This will merit several years in bottle but good potential.

Soild core of fruit in this red with chocolate berry and tobacco character. Full and dense. Better than 2009?

The wine possesses a terrific color as well as an impressive attack (blueberries boysenberries and earth) but the tannins cut in on the finish. This cuvee may have been late finishing its malolactic and thus may be easier to evaluate in a few months.
