A perfumed nose exhibits brambly blackberry crushed rock graphite and spice. At this point plus concentration of black raspberry and boysenberry dominate the palate with power and density and the texture of a briary tobacco spice - not just primary but evolved. This wine shows the power of St. Estephe in the 2010 vintage where the concentration of fruit is intense and offers a wonderfully complex terroir expression of the cabernet sauvignon making this a candidate for sleeper of the vintage.

This was in a carafe for at least five hours before tasting, and is a good reminder that you should not be nervous to leave even non-classified 2010s in contact with oxygen - the architecture can easily hold the fruit. Pretty spicy overall, full of tannic grip, dark and plush plum and greengage fruits, sage, cinnamon and crayon. Delicious, such a great value wine, one of the 'open now' wines of the tasting, exactly what you hope for when heading towards this price point, and so rarely get.

Tasted at Lynch-Bages and the UGC the vineyard suffered some hail damage and some parcels lost as much as 30-40% of the crop and the yield which is 44hl/ha. The Les Ormes de Pez is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon 45% Merlot 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot raised in 45% new oak. It has a very sensual very pure bouquet with dark cherries boysenberry wild hedgerow mint and a touch of vanilla much more feminine than the wines of the past. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins on the entry very good ripeness here and the Cabernet Sauvignon is really in harmony with the ripe Merlot. Voluminous and silky smooth towards the finish this is an outstanding Les Ormes de Pez. Drink 2015-

The 2010 Château Ormes De Pez is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon yet includes 34% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, all of which was raised in 47% new barrels. It has ripe black cherries, darker chocolate, and spicy notes as well as medium to full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. I like its overall balance, and it has ripe yet still present tannins, as well as a beautifully layered mouthfeel, all making for a sumptuous Saint-Estèphe that offers loads of pleasure today yet has another 10-15 years of prime drinking ahead of it. Drink 2025-2038.

From the seam technical team as Chateau Lynch Bages in Pauillac blending 57% Cabernet Sauvignon 34% Merlot 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot produced a deeply colored wine with scents of stone cassis and coffee bean. With round tannins and a soft entry the wine finishes with sweet cassis and black cherry flavors supple textures and freshness.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Ormes de Pez slips sensuously from the glass with seductive blackberry pie, Black Forest cake and kirsch scents plus nuances of candied violets, hoisin, dark chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied, rich and plush in the mouth, it has a fantastic line of freshness lifting all the decadent fruit to a long, energy-sparked finish.- LPB
