From an assemblage of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Merlot 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot the wine reached 14% alcohol but there is no sensation of heat in the beautiful Margaux wine. Deep purple in color with a perfume of licorice flowers earth and sweet dark berries the full bodied round textured wine ends with a long fresh chocolate covered blackberry finish. With the efforts of Marjolaine Maurice De Coninck Delphine Kolasa new cellars and the hiring of Michel Rolland this property is experiencing a much needed renaissance. If prices remain fair this could be one of the top wines to seek out for a combination of quality and value in the Medoc.

75% cabernet sauvignon 15% merlot and 10% petit verdot. Aged in 60% new oak and 40% one-wine old barrels. Soils are a combination of 40% sandy-gravelly 40% sandy-silty and 20% clay and limestone on a 15 hectare vineyard with an average 45 year old vines. Hand harvesting ran from Oct. 6th to Oct. 20th. 14% alcohol. A nice fruit-driven effort shows beautiful black blackberry and blueberry with graphite and tar. Displays good concentration and integrated tannic structure. A really nice effort. Enjoy over the next 10-15 years. Tasted twice. First vintage with Michel Roland as consultant.

After making mediocre wines for many years this estate has gotten on the right track since they brought in Michel Rolland as their consultant and Rolland's magic is on display in this beautiful 2010. From a 37-acre vineyard planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest equal parts Merlot and Petit Verdot this dense purple-hued offering reveals copious notes of sweet blueberries blackberries licorice and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied and rich it is the finest Marquis d'Alesme Becker I have tasted in my 30+ years of visiting Bordeaux. It should drink well for 12-15 years.
