If Parussi is characterized by lingering floral notes, the 2010 Barolo Margheria remains focused on red fruit and shades of exotic fruit. This is a big, bold expression of Nebbiolo with deep structure and velvety, rich tannins. Some 24 months in barrel given the wine bold aromatic intensity with soft tones of red cherry, cassis, leather and tobacco. The wine is only at the humble beginning of its evolutionary course and Barolo Margheria is definitely among Massolino’s most age-worthy expressions. Those tannins need a few more years to soften compared to the Barolo Parussi. Drink: 2018-2033. -ML
