The 2010 Chardonnay Coup De Coeur is a selection of the estate's finest barrels. It shows a bit more depth than the estate's other 2010s and also slightly riper tendencies in the fruit. Still I find the qualitative difference between this and Ma Princesse minimal at least at present. There is plenty of intensity in the tropical fruit spices and almonds that frame the finish. Selected from one of Morlet's best barrels of Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley chardonnay. Bright straw color. The well-rounded nose leads with aromas of brown pear French vanilla lemon rind and a hint of candied almond. The palate is richly textured yet elegant supported by precise flavors of red apple lime hazelnut and a lingering salinity. A bit dense at the moment the finish unravels with stunning length. Although perhaps a bit tightly wound now this holds great promise after a spell in the cellar. 100 cases produced. Drink from 2014-2020.
