Clear pencil lead and crayon, set against creamy blackberry and black cherry fruits. This is a delicious wine in a sweet spot for drinking, and the minerality of Nenin is highlighted as it opens in the glass, with pulses of electricity, and waves of sage and fennel spice. This was released En Primeur but they have not yet re-released, and there are still significant stocks at the estate, highlight once again how different the strategy is here from most Pomerol chateaux. With signature Nenin complexity, 2010 was naturally a structured, powerful vintage, making it interesting that they brought down the amount of barrel ageing, to just give a touch more movement through the fruits. 3.59ph. 35% new oak.

82% merlot 18% cabernet franc. Aged in about 33% new oak. Yields of 37 hls/ha. Opaque with a vibrant garnet robe the bouquet is concentrated and backward packed with dark fruits. The mid-palate has broad textures that avoid getting fat thanks to some integrated acids and some fine soft tannins that create some tension on the finish. The deep fruit component at the core of the wine is soft and enlivened by freshness on the back palate which also provides some elegance. Some complexity is already appearing on the finish and more should be revealed with time in the cellar. This vintage shows big improvement. Needs five years to let the fruit emerge and will be best from 2020-2030.

The 2010 Nenin is a blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it charges out of the gate with bold Black Forest cake, plum preserves and licorice scents followed by Chinese five spice and potpourri nuances with a waft of fallen leaves. Full-bodied, the palate has great richness and depth with firm, velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and savory.- LPB

From a blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc the wine reached 13.9% alcohol. Ruby colored with floral chocolate and plum scents for a Pomerol this has a stern personality. Boysenberry coca and plum are found in the finish.
