It would be hard to ask more from a young Pinot than this one so effortlessly offers, and its ability to be so rich and graceful at one and the same time earns it a place at the very head of the class. It is rife with deep, quintessential varietal fruit and enriched with sweet, seamlessly fit oak, and its layered presentation of black cherries, vanillin, fresh-baked brioche and violets is nothing less than enthralling, but it is so well-structured that it is years away from reaching its best. It begs for keeping despite its very considerable early charms, and four or five years of patience are certain to pay great dividends.
