The bouquet is a pure and classic mélange of black cherries, dark berries, grilled meats, a beautifully complex base of dark soil tones, coffee bean, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, long and ripely tannic, with an excellent core of fruit, impressive soil signature, superb, nascent complexity and a very long, bright and youthful finish. A classic Latricières in the making. (Drink between 2023-2075)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very composed bouquet with fine delineation, bright redcurrant and cranberry fruit, later hints of dried blood and potpourri. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, gentle and yet harmonious with gorgeous mulberry and red plum fruit, underneath which lies very fine mineralité. With great length to boot, this is an excellent Latricières from Rossignol-Trapet. Tasted September 2016. - Neal Martin

A more deeply pitched aromatic profile is less elegant but a bit more complex and features notes of pungent earth, herbal tea cool floral and dark berries that are trimmed in just enough wood to remark upon. There is an intense minerality adding lift to the relatively big-bodied and sleekly muscular flavors that possess excellent depth and length on the balanced, linear and understated finish that again displays a hint of asperity. This very austere effort will need a few years to unwind and flesh out and even when it does the austerity may never entirely dissipate. 2025+
