Hints of damp earth and sous-bois develop with aeration. There is something very cohesive and focused about the aromatics here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, wonderful backbone and linearity, a sense of precision towards the finish that was not evident in previous vintages. There is superb length here, one of the best Les Pruliers from Gouges...thus far! Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte. -- Neal Martin collapse

The bouquet is a young and complex mix of sweet dark berries, currant leaf, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, incipient notes of venison, espresso and just a bit of new oak in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure, with a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding focus and grip and excellent backend energy on the poised and ripely tannic finish. Again, the tannins seems effortlessly seamless here in 2014. Great juice. collapse

Wine Spectator, May 2017
A firmly structured red, sporting cherry, black currant, violet and mineral flavors. On the austere side, yet fluid, with a long, chalk- and stone-infused finish. Best from 2019 through 2035. 152 cases imported.–BS

I very much like the intensity and focused power of the concentrated medium weight flavors that display moderate rusticity and a touch of austerity on the impressively complex and persistent finale. Patience required. collapse
