One of Margaret River's (and Australia's) iconic Chardonnays, Leeuwin's 2014 Art Series Chardonnay continues that proud tradition. Never shy on toasty, nutty oak or bold fruit, the 2014 features both seamlessly woven together in perhaps greater harmony than in past vintages. Hints of white peach, Bosc pear and citrus appear on the medium-bodied palate and linger on the elegant, finely textured finish. -Joe Czerwinski

Aromas of cooked apple, pineapple and pear with hints of honeysuckle. Full body, fantastic depth of fruit and intensity. Tight and muscular. Reserved. Powerful. Screw cap. Give it a year or two still but a joy to taste.

Decanter,
Complex aromatics of grapefruit, oyster shell and shale minerality suggest power and energy. Very much in the mould of early Leeuwins with carefully integrated, classy oak and tightly knit flavours that linger.

There's delicacy and finesse to the honeysuckle, peach and pear flavors in this white, but also plenty of power to the intensity and focus. Smooth and supple, this has an almost slippery texture, with perfumed and spicy... Light straw, yellow color at the core with very little change through the rim. Fresh and pure aromas of green apple, red apple skin, lemon curd and lime, followed by a floral touch, mulled baking spices and a fine kiss... Light straw, yellow color at the core with very little change through the rim. Fresh and pure aromas of green apple, red apple skin, lemon curd and lime, followed by a floral touch, mulled baking spices and a fine kiss of oak. The palate is medium bodied and showcases wonderful beam acidity that carries through from beginning to end. Citrus and lime flavors come alive on the palate and spark intense palate-defining texture. There is a roundness and freshness on the finish that resembles that of a 1er Cru Puligny. Give this another couple of years and drink the following 10 years.

The “Art Series” represents Leeuwin’s most opulent & age-worthy wines from each vintage. They are identified with paintings commissioned from leading contemporary Australian artists.

Leeuwin Art Series Chardonnay is aromatically complex and packed with flavor but maintains vivid acidity. The wine is fruit forward, typically citrus-driven but also showing pear and nuances of stone fruit. Oak-aging adds depth and gentle accents, such as cinnamon, but no overt woody notes. The wines easily age, and improve, for a good 15 years.

Leeuwin Estate

Leeuwin Estate is a family-owned Australian winery and one of the five founding wineries in the now famous Margaret River district of Western Australia. Formerly a cattle ranch, the property was converted to vineyards by Denis and Tricia Horgan upon the advice of legendary Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi when he visited Australia and saw the estate’s potential as being ideal for the production of premium wines.

The estate enjoyed its first commercial vintage in 1979 and was quickly thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1980 "Art Series" Chardonnay. Leeuwin now exports to 30 markets. The estate releases wines under the Art Series, Prelude Vineyards and Siblings labels.

Celebrating the combination of fine wine, food, art and music, Leeuwin features an award winning restaurant, cellar door and art gallery. The estate is renowned for staging spectacular events and welcoming visitors from around the world.
