Muga’s Prado Enea Gran Reserva is made from a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. The grapes used for making this wine, along with those for Torre Muga, are always the last ones to be brought into the winery. This late picking ensures ideal ripening. The grapes are fermented naturally in 10,000-kilo oak vats, without temperature control or added yeasts. The maceration time can vary and may go on for up to twenty days. The wine is aged in 16,000-litre capacity oak vats for twelve months, then a minimum of 36 months in oak casks and another minimum 36 months in the bottle. After cask-aging, the wine is gently fined using fresh egg whites.

The 2014 Muga Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea is a proprietary blend from the renowned Rioja region in Spain. This red wine boasts an alcohol content of 14.5% and is sealed with a traditional cork closure.

Wine Spectator awarded this vintage a score of 93, highlighting its "full-bodied, refined and powerful" nature. The review notes its luxurious texture, with "glossy raspberry reduction, cherry and mineral notes, woven together with floral and spice accents and hints of tobacco and tea." Wine Spectator's GS suggests that this wine is best consumed now through 2033.

James Suckling gave the wine an excellent score of 96, praising its "really beautiful aromas of crushed blackberry, brambleberry, hazelnut, walnut and light coffee." He describes the wine as having a "full yet so reserved and polished body with fine, creamy-textured tannins" and a "fresh and exquisite finish." Suckling emphasizes that this vintage is a more refined and harmonic rendition of Muga's classic wine, recommending it for immediate enjoyment or aging.

Wine Enthusiast also rated the 2014 Muga Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea with a score of 96. Mike DeSimone, writing for Wine Enthusiast, describes the wine as "dark ruby in the glass" with aromas of "cassis, black cherry and sage." The palate reveals "juicy flavors of black currant, blackberry, clove, milk chocolate and lavender." DeSimone notes that the wine's full-bodied tannins "blanket the palate early on and slowly drift away to reveal notes of cherry and orange zest on the finish." This reviewer suggests a drinking window extending to 2039.

Overall, the 2014 Muga Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea is a highly regarded red wine, praised for its complex aromas and flavors, refined texture, and potential for aging. The exceptional reviews from James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast underscore its quality and appeal.
