The 2015 Bonnes-Mares from the domaine is truly exceptional. The bouquet delivers almost bottomless depth in its sappy blend of black cherries, sweet blackberries, cocoa, a complex base of soil, woodsmoke, gamnebire3d, violets and cedar wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very vibrant in personality, with a great core, ripe, seamless tannins and outstanding focus and grip on the very long, youthfully complex and vibrant finish. Despite its beautiful depth of sappy fruit here, this is a very minerally wine as well and it is going to be stellar in the fullness of time.

The 2015 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru from Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is an excellent example, opening in the glass with a youthful bouquet of blackberry, wild blueberries, Griotte cherry, lilac, peony and some very incipient notes of forest floor. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with bright acids, a deep core and a powerful chassis of fine-grained tannins. This Bonnes Mares' structural authority will require a decade or more to mellow, but at maturity this should rank as one of the greatest renditions from de Vogüé in recent years. - William Kelley

The extract of black cherry nose is interwoven with notes of earth, violet, spice and plum liqueur scents. The very dense and serious yet vibrant and relatively refined big-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that serves to mostly buffer the powerful and very firm tannic spine on the once again naturally sweet, sappy and massively long finish. This is the first vintage in several years where this wine appears to be qualitatively equal to the Amoureuses, at least at this early juncture.

Classic aromas of blueberry, boysenberry, menthol and licorice complicated by soil and spice notes and a sexy carnal quality. Then densely packed but very tightly wound and juicy, showing distinctly darker fruit flavors than the Premier Cru but also terrific energy and balance. Finishes vibrant and long, with firm but ripe tannins, a suggestion of bitter chocolate, and a crunchy quality to its blueberry and black cherry flavors. As rich as this wine is, it's not thick or overripe.
