92+ The 2015 Petits Vougeots from Charles van Canneyt is simply stunning on both the nose and palate. The bouquet delivers a perfumed constellation of red plums, cherries, cocoa, chalky soil tones, a touch of gamebird, roses and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with great transparency, impeccable focus and balance, silky tannins and marvelous grip on the very long and very classy finish. Trés Chambolle in personality this year, which is probably the case every year! This is one of the greatest sleepers of the vintage.

The 2015 Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeot reveals attractive aromas of Griotte cherry, rose petal, dried flowers and orange rind, with little to hint at the savory nuances to come with bottle age. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, sappy and transparent, its caressing, velvety attack segueing into a chalky mid-palate and finish. A very elegant rendition of this lovely climat below Les Amoureuses. - William Kelley
