Decanter,

Good depth of Cabernet fruit with lots of finesse and proper grip. As always, a beautifully textured wine that will open up very well and also last.

Chateau Haut-Batailley is a Bordeaux blend dominated by a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted both before and after de-stemming.

Prior to fermentation, the grapes undergo a long, cool maceration of three weeks. When fermentation is complete, the wines age from 16 to 18 month in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.

The 2015 Haut Batailley is a red Bordeaux blend, comprising 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot. Produced by Haut Batailley in the Bordeaux region's Pauillac sub-region, this wine is presented with a cork closure and an alcohol content of 13.5%.

This vintage has garnered significant praise from professional reviewers, with some exceptionally high scores. Neal Martin of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded it 94 points, noting that the wine "gathers momentum in the glass and develops a subtle mint accent." Martin described it as medium-bodied with "supple, lithe tannin" and praised its balance, concluding that it offers "very good substance and impressive length."

Jeff Leve from TheWineCellarInsider.com gave the wine 92 points, highlighting its "dark, red fruits, thyme and floral notes" on the nose. Leve describes the wine as medium-bodied and cassis-dominated, with "fine tannins, finesse and a bright, peppered, stylized finish." His evaluation aligns with the blend's composition and its resultant characteristics.

James Suckling was equally impressed, also awarding the wine 94 points. Suckling remarked on the "immediate appeal to the nose and palate," emphasizing the presence of blackberries and dark plums. He noted the tannins as "superbly cut and very long and fresh," with the oak contributing "spicy flavors" that harmonize well with the grape tannins.

Wine Spectator rated the wine 91 points, commending its "light savory notes" and a mix of "mulled cherry, plum and black currant fruit." They highlighted the finish, which carries "singed vanilla, black tea and tobacco notes," adding a touch of old-school character. The publication suggested that the wine would be best enjoyed from 2021 through 2031.

Decanter also gave the 2015 Haut Batailley 91 points, praising its "good depth of Cabernet fruit with lots of finesse and proper grip." They noted its beautifully textured quality and potential for development and longevity.
