There’s immediate appeal to the nose and palate. Both are bathed in blackberries and dark plums. The tannins are superbly cut and very long and fresh. The oak chimes in with spicy flavors and bolsters plush grape tannins...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2016

(WA92-94 points) The 2015 Haut Batailley is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, matured in 60% new oak. It was picked between 21 September until 2 October. It is a level up from the 2015 Lacoste Borie with...

(JL90-92 points) Dark, red fruits, thyme and floral notes in the perfume lead to a fresh, medium-bodied, cassis-dominated wine with fine tannins, finesse and a bright, peppered, stylized finish. Blending 72% Cabernet...

Decanter,

Good depth of Cabernet fruit with lots of finesse and proper grip. As always, a beautifully textured wine that will open up very well and also last.

Wine Spectator, March 2018

A light savory notes lead off, with gently mulled cherry, plum and black currant fruit catching up quickly. Singed vanilla, black tea and tobacco notes chime through the finish, which has a perfumy, singed wood echo that...

Chateau Haut-Batailley is a Left Bank Bordeaux wine property that was originally part of Chateau Batailley, a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Classification. Jointly owned by Francis and Marcel Borie, they divided the estate between them in 1942.

Marcel took the Batailley half, including the chateau. The smaller part went to Francis who purchased additional vineyard land from Chateau Duhart-Milon to increase the size of his Haut Batailley vineyards. Now managed by Francois-Xavier Borie, Chateau Haut-Batailley is part of the Borie family of estates that includes Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou and Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste.

The 22 hectares of Chateau Haut-Batailley are on a gently sloping outcrop at the southern edge of Pauillac. They are planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc on exceptional soils of deep gravel and alluvial stones. This ensures excellent drainage of rainwater and encourages deep roots. The average age of the vines is 35 years old.

In 2005, Francois-Xavier Borie began a major program of construction, building a modern vat house, new harvest facilities and a bottling room, all in harmony with the pre-existing decor.

Chateau Haut-Batailley is a Bordeaux blend dominated by a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted both before and after de-stemming.

Prior to fermentation, the grapes undergo a long, cool maceration of three weeks. When fermentation is complete, the wines age from 16 to 18 month in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.

The 2015 Haut Batailley is a Bordeaux Blend that hails from the esteemed Pauillac region in France. With a deep red color, this wine is a true representation of the elegance and complexity that Bordeaux wines are known for. The nose immediately captivates with intense aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, tobacco, and cedar. As the wine opens up, a subtle mint accent emerges, adding a refreshing touch to the bouquet.

On the palate, this wine showcases its medium-bodied nature and supple, lithe tannins. The balance is impeccable, with just a slight tinniness that will dissipate with bottle aging. One of the standout qualities of this wine is the pencil shaving sprinkled over the aftertaste, which adds a layer of sophistication.

Critics have praised the 2015 Haut Batailley for its substance and impressive length. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded it 94 points, noting that it is a classic Pauillac that will provide 25 or 30 years of enjoyment. James Suckling also awarded it 94 points, highlighting its immediate appeal, superbly cut tannins, and harmonious finish.

The 2015 Haut Batailley is made from a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot. It was aged in 60% new oak, which adds complexity and depth to the wine. With an alcohol percentage of 13.5%, this wine strikes the perfect balance between richness and freshness.

Overall, the 2015 Haut Batailley is a wine that embodies the essence of Bordeaux. It showcases the region's signature fruit intensity, finesse, and proper grip. This wine is perfect for those who appreciate the classic style of Pauillac and seek a wine that will continue to evolve and delight with age.
