jebdunnuck.com, November 2017

A legendary wine in the making from the Delon Family is the 2015 Leoville Las Cases and there are very few wines more impressive in the vintage. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the balance...

Wine Enthusiast, April 2018

This wine that comes mainly from a magnificent walled vineyard within sight of the Gironde estuary is structured and dense. Its tannins and firm character show its enormous aging potential. Powerful black fruits come from...

jamessuckling.com, February 2018

Blackcurrant, blueberry and currant aromas with hints of black licorice and hot stones. Full-bodied with dense and integrated tannins and a long, long finish. It is all there and all about proportional harmony. Excellent...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2018

Dark in color and fruit, this is powerful, concentrated, firm, elegant and really packs a punch. The deep black fruits are soft. They fill your palate with gushing fruit. Here you find a massive wall of tannin, but the...

The Wine Independent, November 2022

The 2015 Leoville Las Cases is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Merlot and is deep garnet in color. It prances out with showy scents of raspberry preserves, warm cassis, and chocolate-covered...

Wine Spectator, March 2018

Filled with blackberry, black currant, fig and boysenberry preserve flavors, this starts off showy, but a back end of brambly grip, warm tar, and pastis-soaked apple wood emerges slowly before taking an authoritative lead...

Decanter, June 2020

Las Cases at its imperious best, a Cabernet-based wine vinified in old oak vats then aged in mostly new barrels. The nose is magnificent, sumptuous and oaky, luxurious and opulent, with intense blackcurrant fruit. The...

janeanson.com, February 2025

We are here in signature Las Cases territory - a slow burn, a seemingly delicate lace-like tannic structure that is so St Julien, and then builds up to a powerful Pauillac-like squeeze of tannins halfway through the...

Vinous, June 2025

The 2015 Léoville Las-Cases has an intense bouquet with blackberry, cedar, tobacco, mint and juniper aromas developing in the glass. This is utterly compelling. The palate is very well balanced with more weight and...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, August 2022

Richer and more demonstrative than the 2016, the 2015 Léoville Las Cases dodders up generous aromas of sweet berries, pencil shavings and loamy soil, framed by a deft application of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied...

The Grand Vin is the product of exceptional terroirs from the heart of the original Leoville estate. These are located mainly in the Clos Leoville-Las Cases, which you pass as you leave the village of Saint-Julien for Pauillac. They extend over nearly 60 hectares producing Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with a complex, polished expression and characteristics which are totally unique to the Grand Vin of Las Cases.

Château Léoville Las Cases 2015 is the estate’s Saint‑Julien grand vin, a Cabernet-led blend of **85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Merlot**. In the context of a château better known for reserve and structure, multiple critics note that 2015 shows a slightly more demonstrative side while keeping the house’s firm architecture.

The strongest endorsements are emphatic. **Jeb Dunnuck awards 99 points**, calling it “**a legendary wine in the making**,” highlighting “crème de cassis, graphite, charcoal, [and] lead pencil,” and advising to “**hide bottle for 6–7 years**” before drinking over “**3–4 decades**.” **Wine Enthusiast also scores 99**, emphasizing the wine’s origins “mainly from a magnificent walled vineyard” near the Gironde, and describing it as “structured and dense” with “enormous aging potential,” recommending drinking **from 2027**. **James Suckling’s 98** similarly focuses on proportion, citing “dense and integrated tannins… about proportional harmony,” with a **2022** drinking cue.

At the classic-claret end, **Wine Spectator (97)** finds it “filled with blackberry, black currant, fig and boysenberry preserve,” with “brambly grip, warm tar,” and a “cool charcoal note,” recommending **2025–2045**. **Decanter (96)** calls it “**Las Cases at its imperious best**,” adding a technical note: Cabernet-based fruit “vinified in old oak vats then aged in mostly new barrels,” finishing “monumental.” **Jane Anson (96)** describes “lace-like tannic structure” that builds to a “Pauillac-like squeeze,” noting **50% new oak** and that it’s “standing on the edge of its drinking window.”

More recent tastings confirm both perfume and restraint. **Neal Martin (Vinous, 96)** reports “blackberry, cedar, tobacco, mint and juniper… utterly compelling,” while **The Wine Independent (97)** captures a “velvety and refreshing” palate with earthy accents. **William Kelley (Wine Advocate, 95)** calls it “richer and more demonstrative than the 2016,” already “structurally open today,” and likely to peak earlier than 2014 or 2016—an advantage for drinkers who want Las Cases character with a slightly sooner payoff.
