In spite of the enormous concentration of dried yellow fruit flavors, this has a gracefulness and a great vitality that make it breathtaking. A spectacular Auslese to drink now, but it also has enormous aging potential... A spectacular Auslese to drink now, but it also has enormous aging potential. This will live longer than I will!

The wine is highly elegant and delicate in the mouth but also intense and salty, with a long, very stimulating and nicely grippy finish. - Stephan Reinhardt

This “three-star” Auslese was obviously rendered under the influence of noble rot, but it is the first Erdener Treppchen bottling of the present collection to exhibit what I take to be site-typical orange and tangerine... This “three-star” Auslese was obviously rendered under the influence of noble rot, but it is the first Erdener Treppchen bottling of the present collection to exhibit what I take to be site-typical orange and tangerine, here in aromatically zesty and liqueur-like concentration. Similarly site-typical are scents of sassafras, mint and sarsaparilla, which acquire almost syrupy richness on the palate. A prickle of orange and kumquat rinds, sage-like sizzle and incisive cress help turn the implacably long finish into a tongue-tingling extravaganza of vibratory energy and intensity. This should prove amazing stuff to follow. - David Schildknecht
