(BH91-94 points) Like the Gevrey villages this is presently reduced but the underlying fruit clearly seems quite ripe. The middle weight plus flavors aren't quite as big and robust as those of the Clos de Vougeot but there is a bit more refinement even though I underscore that this is still a muscular Clos de la Roche that is certainly no shrinking violet, all wrapped in a strikingly persistent finish where a touch of wood surfaces. This too is going to require at least 5 to 7 years of cellaring first to allow for more depth to develop.

Candied cherry and toasty oak notes highlight this dense, tannic red. Awkward today, but pulls together with air, offering focused cherry, strawberry and smoke flavors backed by a racy structure. Offers firm grip on the finish, where a mineral accent emerges. Best from 2023 through 2040. 20 cases imported. –BS
