Tua Rita’s single-variety Merlot takes its name from a stream that runs near the estate. Redigaffi is a benchmark wine that has achieved cult status around the world. The 2000 vintage was the first wine from Italy to be awarded 100/100 by Robert Parker. Redigaffi features regularly in the catalogues of the world’s leading auctioneers, such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s, and is one of the few Italian wines included in the Liv-ex index.

The wine ages 18-20 months in new French oak barrels and then several months in bottle.

The 2015 Tua Rita Redigaffi is a notable Merlot hailing from Tuscany, Italy. This red wine, produced by Tua Rita, features a cork closure and boasts a significant alcohol content of 15.0%.

James Suckling awarded this vintage a perfect score of 100, emphasizing its "aromas of blackberries, fresh plums, oyster shells, iodine, violets, and tobacco leaves." He further noted its "chocolate and salted caramel notes" on the palate, describing it as "full-bodied, yet elegant and light-footed" with "polished, well-integrated tannins." Suckling concluded his review by calling it "seamless and endless," recommending it for immediate consumption or aging.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, through reviewer Monica Larner, gave the 2015 Redigaffi a commendable score of 96. Larner highlighted the vintage as an "explosive year," characterized by an opulent and exuberant wine following a cool spring and hot summer. She described it as having "dark cherry fruit, baker's chocolate, and a soft lactic note." Larner praised its "sweet tannins, toasted oak, and abundant textural richness," noting its long-lasting appeal.

Wine Spectator also provided high praise, scoring the wine at 95 points. The review described the wine as "lush and polished," with a "cashmere texture" that caresses flavors of "vanilla, chocolate, black cherry, and plum." The wine is noted for its balance and persistent finish, hiding a solid structure beneath its harmonious profile. Wine Spectator recommended decanting the wine and suggested it would be best enjoyed from 2020 through 2032, with only 1,000 cases made and 90 cases imported.

Decanter matched Robert Parker's Wine Advocate with a score of 96. Their review echoed the sentiment of an "explosive year" and described the wine as having "crushed blackberry and wild bramble aromas" with a "seductively smooth" palate. The wine featured a "rich, plump middle" and "lovely blue plum, black-fruited, smoky element with a little toasty oak." Decanter noted the fine tannins, albeit with a slight dryness, and remarked it as a "beautiful wine."

In summary, the 2015 Tua Rita Redigaffi is highly praised across the board, with reviews highlighting its rich, complex flavors and smooth texture. This Merlot stands out as a superb choice for both immediate enjoyment and long-term aging.
