One of the oldest estates producing Brunello di Montalcino, Valdicava is located in the Montosoli area, famous in Montalcino for wines with great balance of body and aroma. Vincenzo Abbruzzese, owner and winemaker, has been making wine at Valdicava for more than 30 years. He and his family have long-crafted Sangiovese masterpieces, and their Brunellos are considered a benchmark - among the finest in the region. Vincenzo is known to be one of the masters of Brunello due to his passion and intense dedication to the vineyard, and clinical attention to detail at each step of the wine-making process.

Nearly 67 of the 333 acres of the property are dedicated to vines, all strictly Sangiovese. Martini Bramante, Vincenzo Abbruzzese’s grandfather, bought the property in 1953 and began bottling “Brunello Valdicava” in 1968. Today, with the help of Valdicava’s agronomist, Andrea Paoletti, and oenologist Attillio Paglio, Vincenzo has succeeded in bringing his wines to the next level and in establishing a stellar reputation.

Valdicava's philosophy is to work more in the vineyards to express balance and terroir. They like to produce a Brunello that represents the best tradition in structure and aromatics with more elegance, harmony, and fruit. Grapes from their Poggio, Pievecchina, Pratea and Sferracavallo vineyards provide for their primary wine, Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino.

The 2015 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino is a captivating red wine that exudes elegance and complexity. With its deep, dark color and sultry appearance, it immediately captures the attention of wine enthusiasts. This Sangiovese Grosso varietal from the renowned Valdicava winery in Tuscany, Italy, is a true gem of the region.

Upon opening the bottle, the aromas that waft from the glass are simply mesmerizing. Plumy dark fruit, black cherry, and cured tobacco blend harmoniously with notes of cola and balsam spice. There is also a delightful earthiness and savory quality, reminiscent of crushed flowers and wild rose. The bouquet is a true ode to the classic Sangiovese profile, showcasing the wine's depth and character.

On the palate, the 2015 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino impresses with its full-bodied nature and smooth texture. The elegant tannins add structure and depth to the wine, creating a velvety mouthfeel. While the fruit profile leans towards black fruits rather than red, it maintains a vibrant and fresh quality.

This wine is perfectly suited to accompany a classic Tuscan dish such as pappardelle con sugo di lepre (wild rabbit) or any game sauce. The rich flavors and well-balanced acidity of the wine will complement these dishes beautifully.

Renowned critics have also praised the 2015 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded it an impressive score of 96 points, highlighting its dark fruit aromas and elegant tannins. Wine Spectator bestowed it with a score of 95 points, noting its ripe cherry, plum, and earth flavors. James Suckling, one of the most respected voices in the wine industry, awarded it an outstanding 99 points, praising its wonderful aromas of roses, plums, and truffles.

With a long and glorious finish, the 2015 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino is a wine that will continue to evolve and delight for many years to come. While it can be enjoyed now, it will undoubtedly reach its peak after a few more years of aging. This wine is a true testament to the excellence of Brunello di Montalcino and a must-have for any wine connoisseur.
