(90-93 points) The 2016 Petite Sirah (Sonoma County) is one of the "Don't Miss" wines in this brilliant range from Carlisle. Inky, deep and pliant, the 2016 is full of Petite character, with notable fruit density and exceptional overall balance. Inky dark fruit, black pepper, mint and lavender build as this explosive Petite shows off its alluring personality. The tannins are remarkably polished for a young Petite, which means the 2016 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Carlisle's Sonoma County Petite Sirah is built on a core of fruit from Rossi Ranch, with dollops of Petite from Palisades and Syrah from Rosella's -- Antonio Galloni

The base 2016 Petite Sirah (there's 8% Syrah in the blend) is a serious mouthful of a wine. Black fruits, chocolate, scorched earth and charcoal notes all give way to a big, rich, opulent effort that has plenty of building tannin. I suspect it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15 years.

A blend of 92% Petite Sirah and 8% Syrah, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Petite Sirah has a very compelling perfume of violets and baking spices over a core of kirsch, blackberry pie and wild blueberries with a touch of peppercorn. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich, it has a firm frame of chewy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and earthy. 292 cases produced.-LPB
